Douglas Leads Warriors at Corban Spring Classic

WOODBURN, Ore. - Senior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) finished as the tournament runner-up after shooting a team-best 4-over 76, as Corban's men's golf team finished second behind conference member Northwest Christian at the Corban Spring Classic Saturday at the OGA Course at Tukwila.

Tournament-host Corban competed in its annual Spring Classic against fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Northwest Christian and NCAA Division III member George Fox in an 18-hole stroke play match.

Playing under cloudy skies that included intermittent showers and cold temperatures, the host Warriors posted a season-high 49-over 337 to finished second overall behind tournament champions Northwest Christian, who shot a combined team total of 40-over 328.

Besides Douglas, freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) carded a score of 11-over 83 to finish fourth overall individually.

Meanwhile, senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) turned in a score of 15-over 87 and finished tied for ninth, while fellow senior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) fired a 19-over 91 to round out the Warriors' team scoring.

Also competing for Corban, junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) finished the tournament with an individual score of 20-over 92.

Competing as individuals, sophomore Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.) posted a 13-over 85 to finished tied for fifth while sophomore Tyler Dean (Klamath Falls, Ore.) turned in a score of 28-over 100 in his first tournament of the season.

Northwest Christian's Brent McKee fired a tournament-low 2-over 74 to capture medalist honors, while the Beacons took home its second team title of the season after defeating Corban in a dual match during the fall season.

George Fox rounded out the team scoring with a combined score of 64-over 353, while the Bruins' David Burkhart was the team's individual leader with a 13-over 85 to finished tied for 5th overall.

Corban will return to the links on Monday and Tuesday, April 7th & 8th, for the final conference tournament of the season hosted by Northwest Christian at Tokatee Golf Course in Blue River beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day.
