McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Melanie Langley, women’s soccer coach at Linfield College for the last two seasons, has resigned, according to director of athletics Scott Carnahan.

Langley stepped aside to accept an offer as assistant women’s soccer coach at Portland State University, where she was a three-year soccer letterwinner from 2001 to 2003.

In two seasons as head coach at Linfield, Langley led the Wildcats to a pair sixth-place finishes in the Northwest Conference. Her two-year record was 12-23-4, including 9-20-3 in the conference.

“We’re disappointed Melanie is leaving, but the Portland State job is a great opportunity for her,” said Carnahan. “Being a Division I coach is something she aspires to. During her short time at Linfield, she helped maintain the consistency of our program. We look forward to the next coach coming in and taking the program to the next level.”

The search for a replacement begins immediately, said Carnahan, and will continue until the position is filled. The full-time position includes a health education/physical education teaching component. A master’s degree is preferred.

Applicants should send a letter of application, résumé of education and experience, official transcripts, and a list of three references with current phone numbers to: Dawn Graff-Haight, HHPA Department Chair, Linfield College.
