CORVALLIS, Ore. - Sophomore Kelly Dyer (Eugene, Ore.) pitched a one-hitter on Friday afternoon, supported by strong Beaver offense, in the team’s 3-1 win over Oregon on Friday afternoon at the OSU Softball Complex.

The win clinched the two Dodge Civil War Series points, as well as the overall series’ title to Oregon State for the third year out of the last four in a 9-8 decision.

Oregon State (26-21, 4-6 Pac-10) had five players with seven total hits, scoring all three runs in the first inning, while Oregon’s (28-20, 1-9 Pac-10) Bryant earned the lone hit for the Ducks.

The Beavers started off strong in the first inning, racking up three quick runs behind two hits, a walk and two Oregon errors by second baseman Cortney Kivett. Freshman McKenna Lowe (Tustin, Calif.) earned the team’s first hit, batting second in the order, with freshman Erin Guzy (Beaverton, Ore.) earning a one-out two-RBI single later in the order to score M. Lowe and senior Cambria Miranda (Camarillo, Calif.).

Oregon put a run on the board in the top of the third after Sari-Jane Jenkins led off with a walk, advancing to second on a wild pitch before scoring from second on Neena Bryant’s single.

Oregon State earned five more hits through the next five innings with Chisholm and junior DeAnn Young’s (Camarillo, Calif.) pair of hits each.

Dyer earned the complete-game win, throwing 10 strikeouts and boosting her overall record to 17-16, 4-6 Pac-10. Oregon’s Brittany Rumfelt was charged with the complete-game loss, putting her overall record at 5-2.
