SEATTLE - For the third time this weekend and the fourth time this season, Western Oregon has topped Seattle University in women's softball action.

The Wolves' 1-0 victory over the Redhawks on Sunday at Logan Field moved WOU's record to 19-14 on the season, while Seattle dropped to 26-9. Add in Western's twinbill sweep on Saturday and a tournament win back on March 1, the Wolves are 4-0 this year against the No. 3 regionally ranked Redhawks.

In Sunday's non-conference game, WOU got a two-hit shutout pitching performance from freshman Jessica Wood. The Dalles native walked just two and struck out six to improve to 5-2 on the season. Wood did not allow a Redhawk runner past second base on the day.

Offensively, the Wolves would get what they needed in the sixth inning when Tyler Sutherland singled and later scored on Jessica Hallmark's single to centerfield.

Redhawk pitcher Erin Martin allowed no earned runs, scattered seven hits and struck out four, but lost for the second time in two days to fall to 17-4 on the year. Sutherland had three of those seven hits to lead all batters at the plate.

Western Oregon, ranked tenth in the latest NCAA Division II west region poll, will return home to face Saint Martin's in a make-up doubleheader on Tuesday. Start time is 2 p.m.
