San Diego State Defeats Portland, 78-64

Freshman forward Luke Sikma had a solid all-around game with eight points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Pilots.

(FRESNO, Calif. ) - portland pilotsThe Portland Pilots struggled from the perimeter and fell to the San Diego State Aztecs 78-64 in the World Vision Classic Saturday night at the Save Mart Center.

Senior Sherrard Watson scored 19 points and sophomore Robin Smeulders added 16 in the loss for the Pilots. Juniors Kyle Spain and Lorrenzo Wade led the Aztecs (2-0) with 22 and 18 points, respectively.

Pilots End Regular Season With Shutout of LMU

It’s the eighth straight win and the sixth straight shutout for Portland, which wrapped up its ninth West Coast Conference title with a win at Pepperdine last weekend.

Brandon Roy led all scorers with a career-high 32 points. He hit four shots from beyond the arc and scored 18 points in the second half as the Trail Blazers refused to relinquish their lead.

Serna Kicks Oregon State Past Washington, 29-23

Alexis Serna kicked field goals of 51, 43, 34, 30 and 28 yards for Oregon State (6-4, 4-3 Pac-10).

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Alexis Serna Yvenson Bernard ran for 149 yards and Alexis Serna kicked five field goals to make Oregon State bowl eligible with a wild 29-23 win over Washington on Saturday night that turned ugly when four players were ejected.

Washington sophomore quarterback Jake Locker was taken off the field in an ambulance in the second quarter, after a hit near the Huskies sideline left him motionless. He was put on a stretcher, lifted into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.

(MOBILE, Ala. ) - Paula CreamerPaula Creamer recorded her third straight round in the 60's on Saturday at The Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions.

The 21-year-old notched a 4-under-par 68 to move to 16-under-par (67-65-68=200) for the week, six shots ahead of Pat Hurst. Creamer carded her second straight bogey-free round with four birdies, including a chip-in on 18.

Oregon was led by sophomore Taylor Lilley’s game-high 19-point performance, knocking down four buckets from behind the arc.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Taylor Lilley Oregon started the 2007-08 season off on the right foot with a 67-32 victory over San Jose State on Saturday afternoon at Mac Court.

Led by three players in double figures, Oregon shot 41.5 percent from the floor, while the Ducks’ defense limited San Jose State to just 11 made field goals.
