6th Annual Health & Wellness Conference at the Salem Senior Center Saturday

Free screenings include blood sugar screening and blood pressure checks, and reduced costs for Medical Microdermabrasion and Body Analysis, provided by Northwest MediSpa.

(SALEM) - The Salem Senior Center will hold their 6th Annual Health and Wellness Conference on Saturday, from 8:45 to 2:15 PM at the center, 1055 Erixon Street, NE. Conference fee is $15 per person and includes keynote speaker Larry Murillo, Ph.P.H., nine seminar options, lunch, free screenings and an exhibitor fair.

Registration may be made by calling the Conference Coordinator at 503-588-6324.

Dr. Murillo will speak on Native American traditional healing practices, and why and how they are being used in hospitals and clinics today.

Dr. Murillo has a joint appointment as Assistant Professor in the schools of public health and psychiatry at OHSU, and is associated with the One Sky Center in Portland.

Conference attendees will have the option to attend any of the following seminars:

  • “Ways to Maximize Your Memory Potential” presented by Kelley Gordham, Director, Oregon Intervention System and Director of Special Projects for the Center for Continuous Improvement.
  • “New Approaches in Digital Mammography ” presented by Christopher D. Goeser, M.D.
  • “Life After Work: Factor In Fulfillment and Funds” presented by Julie Tripp, business writer and personal finance columnist at The Oregonian.
  • “Thrive With Natural Medicine” presented by Christina Cooke, N. D.
  • “The Incredible Animal/Human Bond” presented by Patty Storkel, Program Director, Paws For Love Therapy Dogs.
  • “Will the Real John Doe Please Stand Up” presented by Detective Paul Henninger
  • Lifelong Sexuality: The Changes with Aging” presented by Geri Newton, consultant and author.
  • “Nuts and Bolts of Counseling: Using therapy to help survive and thrive through life’s challenges” presented by Maribeth Kallemeyn, Ph.D.
  • “The Art of Managing Diabetes” presented by: Eileen Schramm, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator.

Free screenings also available include: Stroke/Carotid Artery Disease (CAD) Screening, Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Screening and the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening will be provided free by Salem Vascular Consultants for the first 30 who register for the conference.

Additional free screenings will include blood sugar screening and blood pressure checks,

Exhibitor booths include: T Mobile, Anchor Medical, Salem Hospital, Salem Health Food Store, Courthouse Athletic Club, Star 21 Medical Equipment, as well as acupuncture, chiropractor and message therapy.

It is a pity that I have not visited at this conference, and very much it would be desirable!
