(SALEM, Ore) - Salem-News.com launched live Internet news earlier this month. We are in beta testing phase as we go live weeknights at 7:00 p.m. with news Presenter/Anchor Bonnie King.

This particular program had its share of technical errors. New equipment was brought online and used for the first time, leading to some disappointments and also remedies and answers. The parts of this program that did not air with clarity will be repeated Wednesday.

It is important to understand that we are using some of the newest computer technology in the world, and tying that to analog television equipment. Our studio has all of the same equipment that you would see in a typical television station newsroom environment.

The technology presents a host of problems, but our Engineer/Director Kevin Montgomery, is working through them day by day. It is not a small or easy task, Kevin and Jerry Montgomery and Dexter Phoenix and Chris Barichio a few others, like our Outdoors Reporter Gerrit Roelof who dropped by for a live interview in this program.

But as I said, we had technical difficulties, and I apologize for that. The programs will emerge from beta phase soon and we look forward to bringing you a product that will be very unique and geared specifically toward our Oregon audience, while remaining appealing to all Internet viewers with national news, world news and sports.

This project may not be the first of its kind, but it is close. We plan to fully develop the 7:00 p.m. show and then explore other times for more programming. Salem-News.com has contributors all over the nation and in other parts of the world as well, and we look forward to bringing them into the program live in the near future.

In this program... As a part of the plea agreement, the Benton County District Attorney learns the location of Murder victim Brooke Wilberger.

Prosecutors were able to obtain information necessary to locate and recover Brooke Wilberger's remains. In response, a multi-agency investigative team initiated a search and subsequently located Brooke Wilberger's remains.

Washington County Deputies received a call of a Robbery at the Payless Shoe store on SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. The suspect, a black female adult, left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The employee complied with the demands and the suspect left without further incident.

Police say there were customers in the store at the time of the robbery. The employee described the suspect as a black female adult, 5'3" – 5'4", in her mid 30's to early 40's, slender, wearing a black hat, black t-shirt, and dark jeans. It is believed the suspect left driving a maroon Mercury in an unknown direction of travel.

A Salem man apparently thought he could convince a deputy he was about to become an officer, and therefore only deserved a warning.

Marion County Deputy Ethan Griffith says he was driving southbound on Lancaster Drive Satruday around 12:30 p.m., when he conducted a traffic stop on a driver who he observed operating an unsafe vehicle with a large crack in windshield. Before the day was over Griffith was arrested for telling the deputy he was enrolled in the police academy.

Oregon State Police are continuing their investigation into Monday afternoon's serious injury three vehicle crash on Highway 30 about ten miles west of Rainier. Critically injured in this crash were Eric Hendricks, Captain of the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division, and his wife.

Ever wonder what it would look like to see the Coast Guard change a bouy in the middle of the ocean? The Coast Guard sent photos of crews aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Fir, homeported in Tongue Point, Oregon. Her crew will continue conducting maintenance on several buoys over the next two weeks

The Fir will be heading up and down the coast of Oregon and Washington for two weeks conducting maintenance on several buoys.

Also, hear from our Outdoors Reporter Gerrit Roelof who will talk about fire safety as we work our way toward the end of one warm Oregon summer.
