Remembering Lady Diana, Payne Stewart and Anna Nicole Smith

Triple shot of poetic tribute for three people who were loved by millions and lost too soon.

Remembering Lady Diana, Payne Stewart and Anna Nicole Smith

(CLEVELAND) - There is so much to say about the loss of entertainers, athletes and royalty, and it is clear that those who loved them often never stop, and people will adore these celebrities for most if not all of their lives. They are forever youthful, locked in time at the age they were lost.

In some cases there are fitting tributes, and at other times people like Elton John will change a few lines to an existing song to quickly profit from a high profile death. Fortunately those cases are limited.

The loss of Princess Diana will always be felt sharply among her millions of admirers. It was a tragedy beyond words and the impact on the world was as hard as the crash that shattered the bodies of the Princess and others traveling in the Mercedes Benz. Too much speed, too many cameras; all culminated in such an epic loss, the likes of which has rarely been seen in modern history.

American professional golfer Payne Stewart won three majors in his career, the last of which occurred only months before he died in an airplane accident at the age of 42. This Springfield, Missouri native was always popular with fans, especially for his clothing. A favorite of photographers because of his ivy caps and patterned pants, he were a cross between plus fours and knickerbockers, a throwback to the once-commonplace golfing "uniform."

Former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith was an actress and popular TV entertainer who died in a Hollywood, Florida hotel room as a result of an overdose of prescription drugs. This is a subject that constantly plays out on our Salem-News.com pages; the tendency of doctors to ignore common sense natural medicines like marijuana which is legal in all U.S. western states, instead addicting 'patients' to harmful dangerous prescription pills like Oxycontin, is a crime.

Lady Diana Princess Of Wales (In Memorial)

Tragedy struck on a Saturday night.
In a city known for love,
Caused by those who obviously,
Have very little of.

Those who placed their greed,
Above all of the rest,
And the privacy that the Lady,
Tried so hard to protect.

Diana fought for her life,
Feeling her work here wasn’t done,
Her goodwill tours around the world,
The love she had for her sons.

What about all the charities,
The work she did for the poor,
At only 36 years old,
There had to be so much more.

Sadly it wasn’t meant to be,
GOD chose her to move on,
She’s working closely now,
With Abraham, Martin and John.

Blessed with style, beauty and grace,
Possessing qualities rarely seen,
The people have lost a Princess,
While Heaven has crowned a Queen!

Farewell To Payne Stewart (In Memorial)

Golf is a game of the heart,
With a love that’s meant to last,
This brings to mind Payne Stewart,
A class act for sure has passed.

Flying high in the wild blue yonder,
Above the masses below,
Payne and those who were with him,
Why did they have to go?

He was more than just the clothes,
This loving husband and father of two,
That’s the number of U.S. Opens won,
Why? What did he do?

A champion of the greens,
A master when buried in the sand,
On his way to the TPC,
The Lord had other plans.

Payne birdies 18 to finish at 60,
The site is so clear in my mind,
But with an 80-foot eagle for the win,
God shoots a 59.

Payne extends his hand with a smile,
Congratulating God for a record back 9,
All the while thinking to himself,
Lord I’ll get You next time.

A lifetime of fond memories,
Doing what he loved to do,
In our hearts he’ll be here forever,
Even though he’s gone at 42!

Anna Nicole Smith (In Memorial)

Anna oh Anna, who knew these were the last days,
Heartache after heartache now forever gone away,
Constant tears flowing from make-up covered eyes,
At the death of Daniel, your once most coveted prize.

Glamour and beauty, was it really worth the fame?
Millions upon millions from the use of your name,
39 years of age, a life of stardom, you were consumed,
Is this the reason Miss Smith has checked out so soon?

Sadness seemed to so often adorned your lovely face,
Even with all the Cover Girl impeccably in its place,
Beauty is only skin deep as feelings we all try to hide,
And no one really understood the turmoil deep inside.

For a true understanding, the outer, God looks through,
Who will really ever know what was going on with you?
Grandfather billionaire husband, infamous Playboy Magazine,
Fast life in the fast lane; was it real or merely just a dream?

Relentless media coverage greater now than ever before,
CSI doing who knows what behind your hotel room door,
Fans, the public awaits, a Coroner an autopsy to perform,
Drug related Anna, no longer able to handle the storm?

Five-month old daughter lovingly referred to as Dannielynn,
Will she too grow up to be idolized by millions of men?
Courtrooms, movies, TV, commercials, lawsuits galore,
Or heavenly blessed with a life that you’d consider a bore.

This brings to mind another Hollywood Blonde Bombshell,
Facade filled heartache and unhappiness too numerous to tell,
Marilyn or Marilyn, isn’t this a reflection of your turbulent life?
Still not understanding it’s due to the absence of God & Christ.

Wear this; go there, lights flashing, stop, big smile my dear,
Did anyone ever say something you really wanted to hear?
Hopefully, prayerfully, a voice will whisper softly and say,
“Welcome home my child” but only for those who are saved.

Luke Easter is a poet who writes about things that are very close to the heart of Salem-News.com. Another former U.S. Marine, Luke heals the world with an approach that reaches people on a different level, one known for centuries, yet too often forgotten in the one we live in.

We live in a world of social & economic injustice. The main reason for founding America in the first place was to relieve the oppression of the King of England. Patrick Henry said it best, “give me liberty or give me death.” And yet, all too often death seems to be the only way out. Why is there such a high suicide rate especially among teens, in the land of the free & the home of the brave? What makes headlines? Good news? Ha! More depressing stories than anything else. I feel poetry takes an edge off the hurt of bad news while still delivering it but in a, “glitzy” sort of way. Giving a different perspective. Kind of like slap in the face as opposed to a knife in the back. At least with the slap you’ll live to see another day and you will know whom it’s from. I wasn’t here for the beginning of the world but at 59, I just might be here for the end.

Even though it’s still a knife, rhyme poetry helps to dull the blade. And that’s my job. You can write to Luke Easter at: lyricsfromlucas@aol.com

Great song about Anna Nicole. She was a mess from the moment she was born. She was tormented, unhappy peson who couldn't find her peace of mind. When Daniel died, Anna couldn't cope with the loss. You forgot to mention Trimspa. Anna didn't lose her wieght with Trimspa. She had lap band surgery, liposuctions...Trimspa was a fraud.
