Felons Found in Possession of Body Armor After Vehicle Pursuit

The driver was caught after a foot chase through a wooded area.

(OREGON CITY) - Oregon City Police Officers say they were involved in a high-speed pursuit Sunday morning, after an attempted traffic stop of two convicted felons on Hwy 213 near Beavercreek Rd.

29-year old Dammien Charles Fowler of Canby, Oregon and his passenger, 28-year old Wesley Allen McKernan of Mulino, Oregon, were suspected of several traffic violations and pulled over by police.

Sergeant Matthew Paschall with Oregon City Police says that as the officer approached the vehicle, Fowler drove off at a high rate of speed. "The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle as it speed south onto Beavercreek Road running traffic signals as the two attempted to get away."

Oregon City Officers followed the vehicle into Molalla where Molalla Officers were able to use spike stripes to safely slow the vehicle down, Paschall said. "Fowler continued driving on three blown out tires until he reached the Country Christian Church, 16975 S. Hwy 211. Mr. Fowler exited the vehicle and fled on foot through a wooded area. Oregon City Officers caught Mr. Fowler in the woods, while Mr. McKernan was detained at the vehicle."

The subjects who are both convicted felons on parole were in possession of body armor according to Paschall.

Dammien Charles Fowler was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail for Attempt to Elude in a vehicle, Attempt to Elude on foot, Felon in Possession of Body Armor, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, Parole Violations and held on over $50,000 bail. Wesley Allen McKernan was lodged for Felon in Possession of Body Armor and a no bail Parole Abscond arrest warrant.
