Motorcyclist Found Dead at Crash Scene Near Albany

This intersection is located near the city limits of Albany south of where Oakville Rd crosses the Calapooia River. The crash is still under investigation.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Deputies in Linn County are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Oakville Road last night. The crash was discovered by 1st Sergeant Art Sprague with the Linn Sheriff's Office while on patrol Monday morning at 12:42 AM.

The operator of a 1995 Honda motorcycle, 37-year old Michael David Phillips of Springfield, was found near his motorcycle deceased.

Sheriff Tim Mueller says the investigation showed this motorcycle was east bound on Riverside Drive when it crossed Oakville Road, striking a sign post at the intersection.

"Mr. Phillips was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. There were no passengers on the motorcycle aside from the driver. No witnesses were located and it is believed to have occurred at least one hour prior to being located."

Mueller added that Mr. Phillips' body was taken to Fisher Funeral Home in Albany.
