(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Portland Police are investigating a possible murder suicide in northeast Portland.

Officers were called to the home on Northeast 110th Ave and Glisan Street just after 11:30 PM Thursday after receiving a tip from family members in California who said the couple sent them an e-mail saying they intended to commit suicide.

A police spokesman says that when officers arrived at the home, they found a hose hooked up to the exhaust pipe of a hearse parked in the driveway and attached to the air ducting of the home.

He said officers quickly disconnected the hose and forced their way into the home.

Once inside they found a man and woman and a child, who neighbors said is a girl, suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The man and the girl died at the scene. The mother died a short time later at an area hospital.

One officer was transported to the hospital after being overcome with carbon monoxide poisoning. He was treated and released the spokesman said.
