Volunteers Prepare Flags for the Healing Fields

The Field of Flags honors those lost September 11th 2001 and military personel who have died in service.

(SALEM) - Approximately 60 volunteers spent the morning at the Anderson Readiness Center, Oregon Army National Guard preparing the flags to be displayed at the Salem Riverfront Park next week. The goal is to "Raise a Flag for those who have Fallen".

The public is invited to attend any or all of the events scheduled between Sept. 7th - 12th. Volunteers are needed for several of the events as well.

Volunteers will be needed on Thursday, Sept. 7th, 2006 at 10:00 AM to assemble the 9/11 Field. Interested volunteers need to assemble by the Carousel. They will be 4,500 flags in the 9/11 Field.

Friday, Sept. 8th, 2006 at 10:00 AM, members of the different service branches of the military will assemble the "Military Field" honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. This field will be near the Pavilion on the north end of the park. The "military Field will be set up during a dedication ceremony where the names of the fallen will be read as the flags are posted.

Sunday morning, the Patriot Guard Riders will assemble at the Fred Meyer North Salem Parking Lot for a procession along Front Street to the Healing Field in honor of all who were lost on 9/11 as well as the military members who have made the ultimate sacrifice supporting the Global War on Terror.

On Sunday, Sept. 10th, 2006 at 2:00 PM there will be a ceremony at the Amphitheater at 2:00 PM.

The final ceremony will be held at 6:00 PM at the Amphitheater on Monday, Sept. 11th, 2006.

Volunteers will also be needed on Tuesday, Sept. 12th, 2006 beginning at 8:00 AM to tear down the Healing Fields.

This will be include the Flag of Honor which list those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001, the Flag of Heroes is in honor of the police and fire department members who perished in the aftermath and the U.S. Flags honoring the soldiers lost in the Global War on Terror.

Flags can be mailed for an additional cost of $5 or picked up on Sept. 12th at the tear down or later at designated locations. Monies generated by this event will be used to take care of soldiers and their families who are currently serving on active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I too raise a flag to the men and women who lost their lives in yet another conflict in the list of wars that are for the very rich and powerful. Young people are idealistic, naive, vulnerable and impressionable. When they are raised to trust and do good it is all the more of a crime of our government to take advantage of people who at the core may be the best. I have such sorrow for all (family or not) who are so badly hurt because their loved one believed the lies for oil and profit. They do not have the historical knowledge of how war works and about the profits made for the large industrialist and bankers. They died for their country. Their country was lied to as per usual by government, private interests, large domestic corporations, multinationals and global bankers. After the honor and sadness, the anger must come. "The Truth and Lies of 9/11" will give you some idea how the global machine works. You must see it on the internet (google it.) Main stream media will not allow people to see it because they are part of the large corporate complex that care more about profit than people. Europe has been dealing with terrorists for decades and has not declared war under false pretenses under a non-majority elected president. "Loose Change" teaches you factually and speculatively. "The Truth and Lies of 9/11" is not speculative. It is totally factual. Please watch it so that not another precious American life is lost under the guise of a search for democracy when we did not even have a democratic election domestically. Even the red herring issues of gay marriage and abortion were use to trick the religious into voting for the more evil ones. They are all evil at the top because they all have to pander to the will of the global elite many of whom are domestically home grown industrialists and bankers. Thank you Mr. David Rockefeller for yet another war so that you can pile it higher in your nineties. Thank you Bilderberg group, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, Committee of 300, Club of Rome, British Roundtable and others who's sense of ego and greed is transferred from generation to generation as the real good souls of our country die along with the innocent citizens of any other land that serves your agenda of maintaining and increasing your heartless quest for more wealth and power.
