(CLEVELAND) - Have Christians lost their way for the most part? It seems the message that the church exists to communicate is all too frequently forgotten, replaced by personal needs and desires, social quests and networking for the sake of business and prosperity. It's supposed to be about love and fidelity, honesty, thoughtfulness and kindness; caring for the poor and underprivileged. Yet churches can become halls of judgment, and places of scorn and shame, and there is a long list of other things. Many who claim to be Christians today actually admit that they do not assist or care for the poor, and in fact reserve for the less fortunate their scorn, and derision. They are empowered by people who reach millions, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Coulter, Savage, and their messages could not be any more non-Christian than they are. Their words of hate and encouragement of violence are absolutely no reflection of the needs or wishes of God. It doesn't take a statistician to see how many people have bailed out of the religious institutions and never step foot inside. Perhaps media has overpowered the message that the church gives, and with a majority of religious organizations backing the powers that victimize the poor through non-Christian like legislation, the massive Republican stranglehold on Christianity; etc., there are always increasingly more reasons that trust is fleeting and faith is more misunderstood than ever. - Where Is There A Real Christian Church?
Exhaustedly, sincerely, diligently I search, To send His only Son to die on the cross, God alone created the heavens, our universe, Hold on! Just what do you mean? In my church He is, Constant eating, talking, kids playing, I am getting mad, I came to hear a sermon from Reverend Bob or Pastor Brad, Maybe it’s me, is it possible that I’m expecting too much? Praise God for forgiveness or this structure He might demolish, Excuse me kind sir if you don’t mind stop smacking on the chips, My, my, my, could anything worse than this possibly happen next? I think it’s utterly amazing that a judge residing in a court of law, Somewhere, somehow, there has to be a real Christian church, Why has church become more of a social club or gathering place? By Luke Easter ______________________________________
Luke Easter is a poet who writes about things that are very close to the heart of Salem-News.com. Another former U.S. Marine, Luke heals the world with an approach that reaches people on a different level, one known for centuries, yet too often forgotten in the one we live in. We live in a world of social & economic injustice. The main reason for founding America in the first place was to relieve the oppression of the King of England. Patrick Henry said it best, “give me liberty or give me death.” And yet, all too often death seems to be the only way out. Why is there such a high suicide rate especially among teens, in the land of the free & the home of the brave? What makes headlines? Good news? Ha! More depressing stories than anything else. I feel poetry takes an edge off the hurt of bad news while still delivering it but in a, “glitzy” sort of way. Giving a different perspective. Kind of like slap in the face as opposed to a knife in the back. At least with the slap you’ll live to see another day and you will know whom it’s from. I wasn’t here for the beginning of the world but at 59, I just might be here for the end. Even though it’s still a knife, rhyme poetry helps to dull the blade. And that’s my job. there were a few good small gatherings of Christians in Iraq. Real Christians. Saddam left them alone as long as they kept it low key. After the U.S. invasion, they are all gone, dead, misplaced. Rough times for true (non-braiwashed) Christians. All the churches are 501C3 now, so nothing but government entities. Even mainstream news posted what I brought up years ago that over 30,000 pastors are now contracted to tell their flock to obey the government in time of civil dissent. (Romans 13) ie: give up your guns, take your vaccines, go to a FEMA camp etc. This is a fact by the way. research it yourself.
