Willamette and OMSI partner to bring Science Pub to Salem

Science Pub Salem

(SALEM, Ore.) - Willamette University and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry have partnered to bring OMSI's popular Science Pub to Salem. The monthly series will feature a presentation and discussion with a Willamette faculty member or a visiting professor.

The purpose of Science Pub is to learn about cutting-edge topics from leading researchers and scientists. Instead of a remote speaker behind a distant podium, experience an informal atmosphere where you can interact with experts and where there is no such thing as a silly question.

Science Pub will kick off at Brown's Towne Lounge with "Friends or Foes? Facing the Facts about American Crows" Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., featuring Willamette University Professor and Chair of Biology David Craig.

Craig's research involves American Crows' ability to distinguish among individual human faces. Collaborating with researchers from the University of Washington, the team’s work was published in the journal "Animal Behaviour" in 2009.

Brown's Towne Lounge is open to adults 21 and over, and it is in the heart of downtown Salem at 189 Liberty St. NE. Science Pub is free, so arrive early to ensure you get a seat.
