Yamhill County Conducts Domestic Offender Sweep

Crabtree says 2007 marks the 5th year of the event. As many as 190 Sheriff’s Offices from 30 different states participated.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - The 5th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail was held in Yamhill County Thursday. Police from a number of local agencies banded together to conduct a domestic offender sweep.

The detail focused on warrants, domestic violence restraining order violations, and domestic violence release agreement compliance.

"During the event 21 arrest warrants attempted, 2 arrest warrants were served, 3 subjects were found and arrested in violation of a domestic release agreement, and 1 subject was arrested for probation violation who is on probation for a domestic violence related offense," said Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree.

The raids were conducted by the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, McMinnville Police Department, Newberg-Dundee Police Department, Amity Police Department, Yamhill Police Department, Oregon State Police, Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office, Yamhill County Crime Victim’s Assistance Office, Yamhill County Probation and Parole, YCOM, and the Yamhill County Correctional Facility.

“Every hour in America there are 28 reported rapes, 67 attacks on women by someone they know and 103 negligence or abuse towards children. These numbers need to be reduced and efforts such as this nationwide sweep will make us all safer," Crabtree added.

The following individuals were arrested:

• 39-year old Alvarado C. Duran was arrested over Violation of Release Agreement.
• 24-year old Jared N. Davis was arrested for Violation of Release Agreement.
• 23-year old Arlie Bryant Jr. was arrested for Violation of Release Agreement.
• 42-year old Kevin Litscher was arrested for two Probation Violations.
• 68-year old Ruard VarderVelde was arrested on a Probation Violation and Assault 4.

Crabtree says 2007 marks the 5th year of the event. As many as 190 Sheriff’s Offices from 30 different states participated, along with local municipal law enforcement agencies, probation departments, District Attorney’s Offices, and other community organizations. It was reported that in the 2006 national event over 5000 warrants were attempted, 900 warrants served, and nearly 1500 members of law enforcement participated.
