Train Derailment Cuts Off Amtrak Service to SeattleSalem-News.comAmtrak passengers will ride buses between Portland and Seattle today.
(TACOMA, Wash. ) - A train derailment Thursday morning near Steilacoom, Wash., has shut down Amtrak service between Portland and Seattle. Burlington Northern Santa Fe says the derailment is near a ferry terminal in Steilacoom, which is located just south of Tacoma. The derailment has blocked both sets of tracks. The 95-car freight train with four locomotives was going less than 45 MPH when 13 cars jumped the tracks around 3:00 AM. There are no injuries reported and the cause of the derailment is under investigation. Amtrak passengers will ride buses between Portland and Seattle today. Related
