(GRESHAM OR) - UPDATE: The AMBER Alert issued for Gresham Police Department was cancelled and deactivated. Gresham police confirmed the suspect was taken into custody and the child was found safe.

Oregon State Police tell us that an AMBER Alert was activated in Oregon following a request from Gresham Police Department Saturday afternoon for a child and male suspect sought following a Saturday morning shooting at a Gresham-area apartment.

Gresham Police Department is asking for the public's help to find suspect Joshua R. Cavett, age 36, from Portland, who is believed to be accompanied by his 2-year old daughter Paige Cavett.

The suspect is the child's biological father but does not have legal custody. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Joshua Cavett is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches, weighing 265 pounds. He has several tattoos all over his body, including his face and neck. He was believed to be wearing a puffy black coat, backpack and dark baggy pants when last seen.

A possible vehicle description is not available at this time. When information is available, an update release will be provided by Gresham Police Department.

On October 12, 2013 at approximately 11:38 a.m., Gresham police were dispatched to the Holly Ridge apartments on a report of a person shot.

They arrived and located the adult female victim in the apartment who had suffered a gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital with a life threatening injury.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, child and/or vehicle is asked to call 9-1-1. Tips can also be reported to Gresham Police Department at (503) 618-2719 or 1-866-5AMBER5.

Very sad. Hard to give support to the MCs.

How sad that the public understands so little about the story and the endless persecution of MC clubs.  This is a domestic act of violence committed by an individual, not a club.
