Short Changing Theft Investigation in Albany

There is reason to believe that Rodney Vaughn has committed the same offense at other Albany and Salem area convenience stores.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - The Albany Police Department is investigating two cases where a suspect, identified as 43-year-old Rodney Robert Vaughn of Salem, "short changed" two local convenience stores.

The Arco station located at 1128 SE Pacific Boulevard and the U.S. Market located at 1709 SE Hill Street both reported that between August and September 2010, Rodney Vaughn entered the businesses and asked for change.

The businesses reported that after Rodney Vaughn received the change he turned away briefly and then turned back around claiming to have been given the wrong change.

In both instances the store employees corrected what they believed to be their errors. Rodney Vaughn made off with over $100.00 from the two deceptive transactions.

There is reason to believe that Rodney Vaughn has committed the same offense at other Albany and Salem area convenience stores.
