(EUGENE, Ore.) - A spirited tribute to the Rat Pack is part of the Broadway in Eugene 2009-2010 Season, coming to The Hult Center for the Performing Arts, Friday and Saturday evenings, October 16-17, 2009. The Rat Pack Is Back recreates one of the famous "Summit At The Sands" hotel shows when the swingin', ring-a-ding group known as the "Rat Pack" was creating hipster legend with a free-wheeling, no-holds-barred nightclub act starring Vegas' four favorite sons: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Joey Bishop. With a stellar cast of some of the finest performers in the business, The Rat Pack is Back has been hailed as the next best thing to seeing the original Rat Pack themselves. The original Rat Pack was influenced early on by Humphrey Bogart. In 1949 Sinatra moved his family just blocks from Bogart's house, and the Hollywood rookie was inducted into a group of the film star's drinking buddies. The story goes that when Bogart's wife, Lauren Bacall, saw the drunken crew all together in the casino, she told them, "You look like a goddamn rat pack." And so it was. The Rat Pack Is Back features uncanny vocal recreations, unbridled humor and a hot, live big band that sends audiences straight back to the coolest time in history. When to be cool, was to "be" cool. Hits include "That's Amore", "Fly Me To The Moon", "Mr. Bojangles" and many more. The Las Vegas Sun writes, "This is as close as anyone has come to capturing the feeling of the real thing." If you want to see a great show, and a piece of Americana that can't be beat, don't miss this memorable performance by four cool cats at the Hult Center in Eugene, making it the hottest place in town.
