(SALINAS, Calif.) - The Nunes Company, Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall of green leaf lettuce designated by the code 6SL0024 sold October 3rd, 2006 through October 6th, 2006 under the Foxy® brand. The product can be identified as Foxy® green leaf lettuce sold under lot code 6SL0024, and purchased on or after October 3rd, 2006 through October 6th, 2006. No illnesses have been reported to date. The recall was initiated when it was discovered that water used to irrigate the product may have been contaminated with E. coli. Subsequent investigation indicated that the problems were caused by temporary use of a secondary water source, initially testing positive for E. coli. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (800) 695-5012.

Not for political reasons, you are better off with a glass of water. They use the term Green to deceive you into thinking that is part of the dark greens that all nutritionists advocate. Steve October 9, 2006 8:29 pm (Pacific time) How's about listing the stores carrying that brand of lettuce. After I buy a head of lettuce and open it, the wrapper is discarded. I am one those without the photo-memory to recall the brand of the lettuce I purchased. When you cook them, vitamins are freed up for absorption. Iceberg Lettuce is a nutritional void. It is mostly good for ruffage. Dark green leafy, dark colors like red cabbage, broccoli and carrots are the best.....COOKED! Moderately. [Return to Top]Leave a comment on this story.
