(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon Employer Council will present Understanding Unemployment Insurance and Chargeability, an educational seminar for businesses, on Thursday, November 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Red Lion, Salem. Employers will learn how to document and report information correctly so that only qualified claimants receive unemployment insurance benefits. According to Marney Roddick, staff to OEC, businesses save money when they understand Oregon's unemployment insurance program. The session will cover basic unemployment insurance such as who qualifies for benefits, forms employers receive, what to do with the forms, and what happens if an employer fails to respond on time. Training will include how work separations are investigated and what rules and laws the decisions are based upon, how the decision relates to an employer's costs, experience rating, taxes, and what employers can do to help control charges. There will be time for questions and answers for tax-paying and reimbursing employers. Cost for the seminar is $59 per person, which includes a buffet breakfast. To register, contact Marney Roddick, 503 947-1305; marney.roddick@state.or.us Oregon Employer Council is a 35 year-old nonprofit organization with 21 chapters throughout Oregon. OEC members advise the Oregon Employment Department, and the United States Department of Labor, advocating for employer education and influence in our communities by identifying and addressing local workforce challenges. Membership is open to all Oregon businesses with employees. Articles for October 6, 2010 | Articles for October 7, 2010 | Articles for October 8, 2010 | googlec507860f6901db00.htmlQuick Links
