Serious Injury Traffic Crash West of Lebanon on Highway 34

(LEBANON, Ore.) - Two people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 34 about one mile west of Lebanon. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

According to OSP Senior Trooper Brad Hales, on October 5, 2010 at approximately 4:40 p.m. a 2009 Toyota Prius four-door driven by Alma Mix, age 45, from Albany, was eastbound on Highway 34 near milepost 16 when, for an unknown reason, it traveled into the westbound lane collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota pickup driven by Daniel Rackham, age 27, from Albany.

Mix was transported by REACH air ambulance to Corvallis Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Rackham was transported by ground ambulance to Corvallis Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Safety restraint use confirmation is pending through the ongoing investigation.

Highway 34 was closed about one hour. ODOT as on scene assisting with traffic detours.

OSP was assisted by Lebanon Fire Department and Lebanon Police Department.
