(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Workforce Investment Board (OWIB) today announced The Voice of Oregon Manufacturing oregonmanufacturing.org a new Web site designed to serve as an online information center about what’s happening in Oregon’s dynamic manufacturing center.

Developed as part of the Oregon Manufacturing Workforce Strategy, the site provides news and information on industry consortia and organizations, education and training programs, best practices, links and other resources related to manufacturing. Through profiles, articles and links, the site tells the story of manufacturing and the many partners working together to build this critical sector of the Oregon economy.

The Voice of Oregon Manufacturing offers a variety of information and functions. Users can not only find information at the site, they can contribute content as well. They can:

  • Find industry and labor groups, education and training providers and other resource organizations.
  • Submit a news brief about their company, organization or institution.
  • Download reports, articles and studies about manufacturing from a variety of sources.
  • Submit articles and links of interest to Oregon’s manufacturing sector.
  • Locate other manufacturing-related Web sites from around Oregon and nationwide.

“The Voice of Oregon Manufacturing has something for everybody connected to the state’s manufacturing sector,” said Charlie Lake, chair of the Oregon Manufacturing Workforce Steering Committee. “Manufacturers can learn about high-performance, lean manufacturing and what it can do for their business; industry and labor groups can submit profiles and gain exposure; education and training providers can post information about their programs; and job seekers can find local job resources. The site will continue to evolve as more Oregon manufacturers and friends of manufacturing join and contribute.”

The Oregon Manufacturing Workforce Strategy is part of the Oregon Workforce Investment Board's strategic plan and its cluster approach to workforce and economic development. It is funded with resources from the Governor's Employer Workforce Training Fund.
