(COLUMBIA, Md.) - Retirement Living TV (RLTV), the first network dedicated to people 55+, has joined forces with U.S. News & World Report to present a video travelogue of the Best Places to Retire in America, hosted by John Palmer. The special offers a unique look at the best locations to enjoy retirement.

Last year, 31 million adults retired in the United States and more than 3.5 million of them moved to a new location. "It was our plan to give seniors relocating a resource for the premiere spots to enjoy their freedom years," says Elliot Jacobson, vice president of programming. "The collaboration with U.S. News & World Report was the perfect partner to make this happen."

The Best Places to Retire were selected using criteria that included cost of living, climate, crime rate, access to healthcare, educational opportunities, and cultural and recreational amenities. "The special showcases the entire realm of retirement living opportunities from big-city splurges to heartland cities where the cost of living is well under the national average," said Tim Smart, managing editor of U.S. News & World Report. The specific locations featured in the special are San Francisco, California, Bozeman, Montana, Venice, Florida, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

Airing October 12 at noon, EST, Best Places to Retire is the second in a series that RLTV and U.S. News & World Report have produced to address the needs of retirees. Bargain Places to Retire, the first collaboration, contained segments featuring the top-five bargain places to retire in the United States and aired on Daily Cafe, RLTV's live daily news and information program, and Living Live. These highlights were followed by an in-depth one- hour special presentation that aired on the network in July.
