Female Body Found in Field Outside Lafayette

Autopsy reveals she died of Homicidal violence.

Lafayette, Oregon
Lafayette, Oregon

(LAFAYETTE, Ore.) - A death investigation is underway after a female body was found in a blueberry field near the City of Lafayette.

On Sunday, about 1:14 pm, the body of a female was found by a few citizens who were driving through the area. Once they realized what it was they contacted authorities.

The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office and the Dayton Fire Department arrived on scene about 1:20 pm. A short time later, the Oregon State Police Forensics Division was called upon to help process the scene.

Monday, October 3rd, an autopsy was conducted on the unidentified female by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office. The medical examiner has determined the cause of death was by homicidal violence.

Police say the persons identity has not yet been determined; however it does not appear to be connected to any recent missing persons from the area.

The investigation is ongoing and currently being worked by the Yamhill County Major Crimes Response Team (MCRT) with the assistance of the Yamhill County District Attorney's Office, the McMinnville Police Department, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, the Oregon State Police and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.
