(Salem, Oregon) - Willamette University sophomore post Sean Dart (Bend, OR/Mountain View HS/Eastern Oregon Univ.) has been named Northwest Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in three games played between Nov. 16 and Nov. 20. Dart was chosen from a group of eight nominees by a panel of NWC sports information directors. Dart averaged 22.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during the week. He shot an impressive 79.4% from the field by hitting 27 of 34 attempts. He recorded double-digit scoring totals in all three games. He achieved a double-double against Northwest Christian University on Nov. 20 with 31 points and 12 rebounds. He contributed 21 points and had six rebounds in Willamette's come-from-behind victory at Concordia University (Ore.) on Nov. 18. Against Concordia, he was 9 for 9 from the field. In WU's season opener at Western Washington University on Nov. 16, he made 6 of 7 field goals and scored 14 points for the Bearcats. He blocked two shots during the week. Willamette began the season with a loss to NCAA Division II opponent Western Washington, 115-84. The Bearcats, who compete in NCAA Division III, rebounded with an 89-88 win at NAIA member Concordia, after trailing 43-32 at halftime. WU fell behind by 21 points at halftime against NAIA opponent Northwest Christian before losing to the Beacons, 102-90. The Bearcats, 1-2 on the season, will return to action on Friday, Nov. 26 against Corban University in the first round of the Capital City Classic at Western Oregon University. Game time in Monmouth, Ore., is set for 5 p.m. (PST). Willamette will take on Pacifica College at 5 p.m. or Western Oregon at 7 p.m. in the second round on Saturday, Nov. 27.
