I do not believe that meth is the problem. I believe that it is the result of a problem. This whole drug war is so stupid and such a failure, when are people going to think in other terms? Obviously there is something lacking in our social, political, and economic culture and social structure. Maybe American culture is just sick. Maybe it is too focused on money and traditional values. Our values have been one of religion out of control, government out of control, corporations out of control, our culture lacking compassion for people here and abroad. I also believe that Americans live in fantasy and are scared to talk Turkey (maybe this will make good conversation on Thanksgiving). There is such a gap in wealth, healthcare, housing, dignified living wage jobs, too many rules and regulations and a puritan attitude toward human sexuality. No wonder so many people wind up taking something to try to get rid of the pain. Too bad real comprehensive mental health and social suppport services are not availble for those who have to adjust to this new global and cruel economic system.....One big free-for-all with little or no concern for the suffering of individuals. It is real easy to be self-righteous.
