Duck Volleyball Ranked No. 24 in AVCA Poll #13

(Eugene, Oregon) - Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the No. 24 University of Oregon volleyball team (18-10, 6-10) enjoyed its 59th straight week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Top 25 Poll released Monday.

In the 13th edition of the season, No. 24 UO was one of seven Pac-10 teams sighted, and overall has been ranked between 11th and 24th in 2010.

Compared to last week, No. 2 California and No. 20 Arizona climbed two spots; No. 9 UCLA improved one position; No. 6 USC held steady; and No. 4 Stanford and No. 13 Washington dropped two spots.

Among other poll notes, No. 1 Florida (26-1) remained atop the rankings for the seventh straight week, and No. 3 Hawai’i (27-1) and No. 5 Nebraska (25-2) also held steady. The other change in the top 10 was that No. 10 Illinois (22-6) swapped positions with UCLA.

The Ducks have been ranked consecutively for more than three seasons, a stretch that has included 14 combined top-10 appearances in 2007, ’08 and ’09, and an all-time high position of sixth.

Before the arrival of sixth-year head coach Jim Moore, Oregon’s previous longest poll streak was a 28-week run from 1986-88 (with a previous program high of 11th three times in that span).

This Thanksgiving weekend, No. 24 Oregon wraps up the regular season with 7 p.m. matches at No. 13 Washington (19-8, 8-8) and Washington State (6-20, 0-16) on Friday-Saturday, November 26-27.

The following day, fans can watch the NCAA Tournament selection show on Sunday, November 28 from 12-12:30 p.m. Pacific Time on ESPNEWS.

Last weekend, the Ducks dropped a pair of hard-fought matches to its top-10 ranked L.A. rivals in its final action at McArthur Court.

Then-No. 23 UO came back from an 0-2 deficit to push No. 6 USC to five sets for the second time this campaign. The night before, then-No. 10 UCLA ended a three-match McArthur Court losing streak with a 3-1 win over UO.
