Salem Man Injured After Crashing Stolen Car

The suspect was transported to OHSU by Life Flight helicopter where he will be treated for severe trauma injuries

(BROOKS) - Just before 7:30 AM Monday, Marion County Deputies responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover crash in the 4800 block of Brooklake Rd NE in Brooks.

When they arrived, Deputies discovered that the car, a blue 1988 Honda Accord, had been reported stolen on Thursday, November 16th from Rockwood Park Apartments in northeast Salem. It appeared the driver lost control of the car, veered across the oncoming lane and onto the shoulder where the car was sent sideways and rolled at least one time.

The driver, 24-year old Josias Regalado-Garcia, of Salem, was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by fire and medic personnel. He was transported to OHSU by Life Flight helicopter where he will be treated for severe trauma injuries.

Mr. Garcia will be charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Driving While Suspended. Other charges are possible.

Deputies are continuing the investigation. It is unclear at this time if alcohol or speed contributed to the crash.
