(LINN COUNTY, Ore.) - OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a multiple vehicle crash blocking Highway 34 near milepost 2 (just east of Corvallis) about 6 a.m., today. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Subaru sedan was traveling eastbound on Highway 34 when it lost control for unknown reasons. An eastbound 2002 Dodge pickup then t-boned the Subaru (passenger side impact). A third vehicle, a westbound 2015 Chevrolet pickup was struck by the Subaru sometime during the incident. The driver of the Subaru, 29-year old Michael S Nelson Cedillo, of Salem was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, 32-year old Christopher Lee Schachtschneider, of Pendleton, was taken to Good Samaritian Regional Medical Center in Corvallis for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, 69-year old William A Hampton, of Salem was not injured. Highway 34 was closed or partially closed for almost three hours. OSP was assisted by the Corvallis Police Department, Corvallis Fire Department, Benton County Sheriff's Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation. OSP is seeking any persons who witnessed this crash to call 503-375-3555. _________________________________________
