Candidates Sought For Salem-Keizer Citizens' Budget Committee

(SALEM) - The Salem-Keizer School District 2007-08 Citizens' Budget Committee is seeking four candidates.

The positions are open to all qualified registered voters of the district; except officers, agents or employees of the school district.

Each candidate must be a resident of Salem-Keizer School District 24J.

A specific geographical location in the District is not a legal requirement, but the School Board does try to maintain a representative balance from all areas of the District.

Appointments will be made as follows:

Two positions are for three-year terms and will expire June 30th, 2009.

Two positions are for one year only and expire June 30th, 2007 .

These positions complete the terms of members who resigned.

The tentative meeting dates for 2006 are January 23, February 6th, April 23rd, May 1st & 2nd, and the week of May 14th.

Budget Committee members are expected to attend all meetings.

The School Board will interview and appoint new Budget Committee members at their regular business meeting on Tuesday, December 12th.

Candidates will be eligible for any one of the four positions, although the one-year terms may be requested. Terms will be assigned at the time of appointment.

Candidates will have the opportunity to speak to the board and explain why they are interested in serving on the committee. This should be no more than 3 minutes. The board may also ask questions of the candidates.
