Nov-15-2006 00:37TweetFollow @OregonNews Tragic Reminder of Oregon Winter Driving HazardsSalem-News.comA traffic crash took the life of a Klamath Falls woman Tuesday morning
(KLAMATH FALLS) - Tuesday at 9:20 AM Oregon State Police Troopers from the Klamath Falls Patrol Office responded to mile post 42.5 on highway 140 west. When they arrived, Troopers located one vehicle, a 2003 Ford Excursion, off the highway, crashed into a tree. The vehicle was extensively damaged, and the driver, the lone occupant, was deceased at the scene. 55-year old Leota M. Essig from Klamath Falls, lost her life in this crash. She was wearing her seat belt at the time. Troopers reported icy conditions in the area. They were assisted at the scene by the Harriman Rural Fire Department and ODOT. This crash is a tragic reminder that winter driving conditions are now in effect throughout Oregon. Motorists are reminded to allow some extra time for their trip and to slow down and be prepared for ice, snow or wet highways. With more vehicles on the road next week for the Thanksgiving holiday, it is important to take necessary precautions in case of unexpected bad weather. If you are traveling through the mountains or other snow laden areas, make sure you have the required traction devices before leaving town. You'll be glad you did. I was on scene at this accident before troopers or paramedics, for about eight minutes. Also present were a coworker, the landowner, and two motorists. If any family member would like to contact me, please email Angryviking@msn.com

I think the comment about this being an example is in very poor taste.
