Pedestrian-Involved Traffic Crash on Highway 219 in NewbergSalem-News.comThe pedestrian was Northbound on Everest Street attempting to cross Hwy 219 ...
(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Police say a a 21-year old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Everest Road and Hwy 219 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Newberg-Dundee Police Dept responded. Initially Life Flight was activated and the pedestrian was transported to the Sportsman Air Park however as emergency personnel did not transport because it was realized the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries. The pedestrian was Northbound on Everest Street attempting to cross Hwy 219 when he was struck by a Chevy pickup truck bearing an Oregon License plate. A second vehicle also traveling Eastbound then struck the pedestrian. Independent witnesses provided consistent reports of the event and both drivers are cooperating fully with the investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation intoxicants do not appear to be a factor. The name of the pedestrian is being with held at this time pending notification of family that is out of the area. The Newberg-Dundee police department is the lead investigating agency and is being assisted the the multi-agency traffic team. Currently Hwy 219 is open and clear and open.
