(CLACKAMAS, Ore) - Today at 9:45 a.m. Oregon State Troopers were called to Highway 26 at milepost 19 on a report of an Emu running in traffic at this location.

OSP Trooper Mike Reel responded to the call along with Deputy Shane Jensen of the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation, to this location and found the EMU on the north shoulder of the road.

The Emu appeared to be waiting for them, yet did not seem willing to cooperate with OSP or the Sheriffs Office.

With the help of some citizens the Emu was gently taken into custody and transported to the Mt. Hood Equestrian Center.

It will then be transported by the Clackamas County Animal Control to their location to await contact from the unknown owner.

The Emu who gave itself up to OSP and the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office is now resting at an Emu ranch in Clackamas County.

The owner has not yet been found, but it appears the Emu is finding new friends to be with.
