(CORVALLIS – AP) - Bicyclists will be riding this month in several Oregon towns to remind to drivers to look out for people pedaling.

They will join a nationwide movment called the Ride of Silence. It's scheduled May 17th.

During the ride, bicyclists will remain silent and go no faster than 12 miles per hour.

In Corvallis, organizers plan a seven-mile route through downtown. One of the organizers is Debbie Jensen. Her 18-year-old daughter, Robin, was pedaling home from her job as a lifeguard in 2004 when she died in a hit-and-run crash.

Rides also are planned in Newport, Salem, Pendleton and Phoenix.
