Oregon Earns Dubious Credit for Gas Prices

(SALEM) - High gas prices have grouped Oregon with several other states and the District of Columbia, as places where the cost for a gallon of regular gas has topped the three dollar mark.

Elliot Eki with Oregon AAA says it is a distinction we could have lived without, "Oregon joins top 10, not the list we want though. The statewide avg. price for regular rose to $3.001, placing Oregon in the group of 10, actually 9 states plus the District of Columbia, where the statewide average exceeds $3."

Salem: $2.945 Portland avg.: $2.96 Vancouver: 2.962 Eugene-Springfield: $3.036 Medford-Ashland: $3.043

Oregon gas station owners are dealing with several factors in relation to the high prices, including abusive behavior toward station attendants who do not and never have decided the prices structure for gasoline.

People who behave poorly at gas stations will be kicked off the property and if the level of abuse rises to a certain level, law enforcement can become involved.
