Salem City Council Approves Garbage Rate Increases

(SALEM) - Residential, commercial, and commercial medical waste rates for city of Salem residents in Marion and Polk counties is going up this month.

The Salem City Council approved the rate increase, which the Mid-Valley Garbage and Recycling Association says it needed to defray increasing costs for fuel, insurance, and yard debris disposal.

New monthly rates for residential-curb are:

20-gallon cart service(without yard service) “ Marion $25.30 “ Polk $23.11.

20-gallon cart service “ Marion $36.40 “ Polk $32.50.

35-gallon cart service “ Marion $40.20 “ Polk $33.50.

65-gallon cart service “ Marion $53.90 “ Polk $41.90.

(Rates Listed Above Are Based on Bi-Weekly Billing)
