(SALEM) - Keizer Police are providing personal safety courses to women and others who want to gain an edge in confidence. The department`s Lance Inman says the courses are free of charge and designed to increase the level of personal safety awareness to groups of individuals. The courses consist of instructional presentations, training exercises and dynamic simulations. The Personal Protection Strategies for Women safety course will be presented on Thursday, June 15th at 6:00 PM at the Keizer Police Department auditorium located at 930 Chemawa Rd NE in Keizer. The strategies educate participants about myths and facts regarding sexual assaults, personal protection strategies, how to resist an assault, personal defense devices and what to do if assaulted or confronted. Participants will learn about offender profiles, strategies for preventing date rape, public transportation safety, assailant target areas and impact and pepper spray devices.
