THE MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COORDINATING COUNCIL IS PARTNERING WITH THE SALEM-KEIZER VOLCANOES FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL STRIKING OUT METH IN MARION COUNTY. EVENT ORGANIZERS SAY THE STRIKING OUT METH IN MARION COUNTY EVENT IS A CELEBRATION OF THE SUCCESSES ACROSS THE COUNTY IN FIGHTING THE METH EPIDEMIC. THE EVENT IS GEARED TOWARDS FAMILIES, WITH FREE T-SHIRTS FOR CHILDREN AND INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS TO EDUCATE AND ENTERTAIN ATTENDEES. THE EVENT WILL BE HELD ON JULY 14TH AT 6:00 PM AT VOLCANOES STADIUM IN KEIZER CITY OF SALEM PUBLIC WORKS CREWS ARE CURRENTLY IMPROVING DOWNTOWN SALEM SIDEWALKS. THE IMPROVEMENTS, ON LIBERTY, HIGH AND FERRY STREETS ARE PART OF THE DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM THAT HAS BEEN IN PLACE SINCE 1985. CREWS HOPE TO HAVE THE WORK COMPLETED BY JULY 30TH. CREWS WILL ALSO BE RE-CONSTRUCTING FALLING TILE ON AREAS OF EXISTING STREETSCAPE THROUGHOUT THE DOWNTOWN AREA. THAT PROJECT IS SET TO BEGIN ON JUNE 1ST, AND BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 1ST.
