May-25-2011 18:03TweetFollow @OregonNews 'The Idol Carrot'... Heads for the HillsCoCo McCain Salem-News.comWell, it’s finally here. The moment all America has been waiting for … one way or another. Tonight we’ll learn who’ll be crowned the Next American Idol.
(CHATTANOOGA, Tn.) - While the show has been raking in record votes (upwards of 95 million a night), it’s probably fair to say that there are hordes of folks ready for the whole thing to be over already- and not because they love it. With this, the Idol faithful can agree because there are millions of fans out there that also can’t wait for the season to be “over with” because they want their American Idol. This year I’m in the “fan camp,” so I can’t wait for tonight’s results. The Good Stuff has been a vocal supporter of Lauren Alaina, our local girl, and I really am excited for Lauren and her wonderful family. It is thrilling to think about this sweet girl’s future as an entertainer and role model. So while there are two Idol camps out there that can’t wait for the closure of “Idol season,” there is one distinct group dreading the end of “Idol Season.” This group being … the smart, sassy parents that early on added “the show” to their parenting arsenal. One of the best parents I know is a pediatrician, but she also has three boys … so I find myself paying attention when she mentions “this or that” about parenting. Well, lucky me, I ran into her a few weeks ago and she happened to ask about Lauren, which then led into a discussion about “The Idol Carrot.” “The Idol Carrot” is nothing short of a miracle-worker and it goes something like this … “Jonathon, please feel free to watch American Idol this week just as soon as you finish your chores and complete your homework.” (She said it worked like a charm … and guess what … she was right!) Now that Idol Season is almost over and the “Idol Carrot” is heading for the hills, I’ll have to check back in with this chic mom for her next brilliant parenting tip … but looking for a “New Carrot” will be well worth if sweet Lauren Alaina wins the whole thing! The “Idol Carrot” is Heading for the Hills … but that’s okay because Lauren Alaina is “in it to win it”! Everyday acts of love, bravery and generosity. Everyday acts of determination, kindness and triumph in the face of tragedy. The simple things that make life so rich and rewarding! The zest and marrow of life."
