Report Provides Sobering Account of Intelligence Community’s Pre-War Assessments

The latest round of investigations show that the administration's selective use of intelligence involved declassifying any intelligence that supported its case for war.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Commenting on today’s release of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence’s Phase II report on pre-war intelligence assessments about post-war Iraq, U.S Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), a senior member of the committee, released the following statement:

“It is striking how accurate the Intelligence Community was in predicting today’s post-war reality in Iraq. It is even more striking how reckless the Administration was in disregarding the Intelligence Community’s warnings.

“Our national intelligence agencies correctly assessed that Al-Qaida would take advantage of a U.S. invasion to attack American soldiers in Iraq. This directly contradicts the administration’s assertions that launching a war in Iraq was central to combating terrorism.

“This also provides a clear cut example of the Administration’s selective use of intelligence – declassifying any intelligence that supported its case for war but withholding major assessments that contradicted its claims that invading Iraq would be quick and easy.”

The Senate Intelligence Committee released its first report dealing with Intelligence Community Assessments regarding Iraq on July 9th, 2004.

In 2006, Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS) elected to break the second phase of the investigation into five reports. Today’s report is the third in the series. The first two focus on post-war findings about Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction and links to terrorism and the use of information provided by the Iraqi National Congress.

S.LaMarche, Agree with you and the anger too. What was once called the United States is now one big corrupt Global Corporate Free For All. People are smarter then ever and working harder and longer yet there has never been so much discontentment and suffering in my lifetime. The Elite (Bush is at the lower end of it), they lie to themselves and are so arrogant how can they be honest with the people that do the real work and fund their power games? Iran is about as much of a danger as Elvis Presley.

All would be better understood if most Americans would understand how everything works. All of the reports, speeches, false positions of elected officials etc. belie the Truth. War and reconstruction, booms and busts make vast profits for our Lords. I am not talking Jesus Christ here. For hundreds of years war and economic cycles have been financed by global bankers along with industrialists. The third down are all puppet officials that only become puppets because the real power brokers know that they will play the profit game. All is about money and the rest is just to confuse the people. The global bankers now called Central Bankers (private cartels of monied elite) steer global policy with their "customers". The customers are the industrial giants and other groups that make money and steer global policy for the way they see the world. It is all quite simple but a big corrupt fraud. Most people that think they are free do not even know that they are just 21st century serfs. The money to fund military operations for the top tier of our bosses is funded by corporate tax. The federal income tax out of your paycheck does not build roads; gas tax and tolls do that. Your hard earned money goes (just like a credit card) to pay off the interest on the national debt. That money goes into the private hands of the private central bankers which makes them even more powerful and able to shape the world with their personal biased vision. Most people do not know that the civil war was almost funded by a 36% loan from powerful bankers. Lincoln said, "No." The American people will not pay interest to private sources and their government will not charge them interest. This is when the "Greenback" was created. The real reason for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln......not playing ball with our real bosses. J.F.K. also wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve which is not a part of the government and is a fraud created in 1913 along with it's non-ratified strong arm....the I.R.S. All of this talk about Al-Qaida and intelligence is a smokescreen for what is quite simple. The Global elite get their way and the serfs no longer have the courage to rebel at the risk of their own personal saftey. They rely on the conspiracy propaganda from the television and mainstream media. 9/11 being an inside sophisticated job is not conspiracy. Everything else you have learned from Murdoch, Disney, G.E.,and Viacom is the real propaganda and conspiracy. Yet every night people still tune in and do not go underground to the real sources which are still abundant on the internet. 20 minutes of commercials per hour should tell you that television is mind control. Do you think the remaining 40 minutes is any different? What makes you think that the powerful four domestic media groups want you to know the truth? They work with the Rockefellers and Rothchilds to keep you in the dark and fighting with one another.... very sad. 9/11 was planned way in advance so that we can get a foothold in in the middle east for resource confiscation, colonization and base building. It is not in our best interest. For every battleship; how many people could have healthcare? See the 2005 prox. version of "Why We Fight". That is about one of the few documentaries that Blockbuster has. The rest can be requested at your local library or on google video. The Fund to Restore and Educated Electorate. You can inform yourselves of the real facts. Stay away from the T.V. Just use it to direct you to the real sources of information. Read between the sound bite and the lines of the newspapers and you will figure out where to look.

not only "dishonest" but intentionally so, as in lying outright to the people whose trust they betray every time they speak. Gonzales? Rice? Cheney and daughter who now has a post of her own on an Iran Observation Group, appointed by bush. The Congress sits and raves while signing a 120,000,000,000 dollar package(as in twelve zeros),to keep it going and the Iran situation not being dealt with diplomatically any more. Invasion plans already in effect. We are all being lied to by a small circle of power there to protect their own interests under the guise of democratic change. May you have graphic nightmares GWB., for these decisions. You have put this country and it's military in this position through your own arrogance and carefully managed agenda of dominance,claiming a hero status on the backs of those who are killed and wounded daily, and the innocent Iraqi and Afghan "casualties do nothing for "our way of life" ou continually cite as protecting. Bullshit!! you are a business man with the entire U.S. treasury to play with. The Baker-Reid report meant to guide you and our country out of this carnage and murder, was unilaterally discarded to pursue the same plan that so far has failed., while in the U.S. the division increases, you and yours have a nice dinner in a fortified compound.
