AMONG THE PROPOSED CUTS ARE ELIMINATING PARK AND RIDE ROUTES, REDUCE ALL DAY SERVICE TO 60 MINUTE SCHEDULES, ELIMINATE SERVICE AFTER 8 PM, AND ELIMINATE SATURDAY AND HOLIDAY SERVICE. THE PROPOSED NEW FARES ARE $1.00 FOR ADULTS, $0.75 FOR YOUTH, AND $0.50 FOR SENIORS AND DISABLED PERSONS. THE FBI AND SALEM POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A BANK ROBBERY MONDAY AFTERNOON AT THE UMPQUA BANK, LOCATED AT 2595 LANCASTER DR NE. BANK EMPLOYEES SAID THE MAN DISPLAYED A NOTE TO A TELLER, AND GOT AWAY WITH AN UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT OF CASH. THE SUSPECT IS DESCRIBED AS WHITE, IN HIS MID-TO-LATE 50`S, GRAY BEARD, EYEGLASSES, AND A LARGE NOSE. HE WAS LAST SEEN WEARING A RED BASEBALL CAP, TAN DENIM JACKETS, AND DENIM PANTS. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS URGED TO CONTACT SALEM POLICE. THE PARENTS OF A DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED TEENAGER FROM ALBANY HAVE BEEN ARRAINGED ON CHARGES STEMMING FROM AN ARSON FIRE THAT KILLED THEIR SON. POLICE SAY 19-YEAR-OLD CHRISTOPHER DEGROOT WAS HOME AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. HE WAS UNABLE TO ESCAPE THE BLAZE BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN LOCKED INSIDE THE APARTMENT BY HIS PARENTS. DEGROOT`S PARENTS, 45-YEAR-OLD AGNES, AND 45-YEAR-OLD NICOLAS REMAIN IN THE LINN COUNTY JAIL ON ARSON AND MANSLAUGHTER CHARGES. PERSONAL INFORMATION, INCLUDING SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS OF NEARLY 27 MILLION US VETERANS, WAS STOLEN FROM A VETERANS AFFAIRS EMPLOYEE THIS MONTH AFTER HE TOOK THE INFORMATION HOME WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION,
VETERANS AFFAIRS SECRETARY JIM NICHOLSON SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE SO FAR THAT THE BURGLARS WHO STRUCK THE EMPLOYEES HOME USED THE PERSONAL DATA, OR EVEN KNOW THEY HAVE IT.

42-YEAR-OLD DENISE ROBERTS OF ALBANY AND 51-YEAR-OLD JESS ROBERTS OF LEBANON REMAIN IN THE LINN COUNTY JAIL ON NUMEROUS CHARGES.
BOTH ARE SCHEDULED TO APPEAR IN COURT NEXT MONTH.
A CITIZEN PANEL HAS RECOMMENDED THAT OREGON LEGISLATORS AND STAFF MEMBERS NOT BE DRUNK WHILE PERFORMING THEIR OFFICIAL DUTIES.
THE NEW POLICY WAS SUGGESTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF CRIME VICTIMS UNITED AFTER HE SAID HE AND ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE GROUP NOTICED ALCOHOL ON THE BREATH OF AT LEAST ONE LEGISLATOR AT THE ENF OF THE 2005 SESSION WHILE THEY WERE ADVOCATING FOR TOUGHER DRUNKEN-DRIVING PENALITES.
