(GAZA CITY) - Despite Israeli guarantees to the International Community, the Israeli Authorities are still obstructing the entry of medicine and medical equipment to the besieged Gaza Strip. The last time medicine was allowed into Gaza was mid October 2009.

Raed Fattouh, who heads a committee in charge of the entry of good into the Gaza Strip, stated that since mid October 2009 until this day, Israel has been obstructing the entry of all medical equipment and medications transferred from the West Bank to Gaza.

Some of the urgently needed equipment are CT scan machines, incubators and their equipment, heart machines, dialysis machines and other urgently needed equipment.

Fattouh held Israel responsible for the lives of the patients in the Gaza Strip as the siege has already led to the death of hundreds of patients, including children and infants.

Israel claims that the equipment and the medicines are undergoing “security check” as they “can be used in a counterproductive way.”

Fattouh said that the Palestinian Authority asked the World Health Organization and other international groups to intervene and pressure Israel into allowing the needed medical equipment.

I'm sick and tired of Israelis labelling anyone who criticises the Nazi style policies towards palestinians as being "anti semite"..I hated George Bush, does that mean I hate americans??? ofcourse not, the "anti semite" label is a shield Jews use to deflect attention from their own racist naziesqe polices.

Dear Tim King BTW,
Thank you for the first reasoned response I have yet heard. I also wrote the two comments below the one you commented on:

before I had heard about the tragedy that occurred on the flotilla and am very sorry to hear the news. I would encourage you to read them and the editors response. My concern is the constant comparison here of the Israeli people to those of the Nazis. I brought up the fact that Hamas uses the Protocols of Zion as a platform to argue against Israel. This is deeply disturbing considering that fact that it was one of the main arguments the Nazis used in their extermination of six million Jews. I certainly would not written my last comment (the one you responded to) had I received the response you gave. As I stated earlier, I strongly oppose the policies the the Netanyahu government. Nevertheless, I like many Jews and Israelis, am deeply concerned with those who support Hamas and Hezbulla without opposing their support of certain Nazi and neo-Nazi ideologies. In other words, Hamas' inclusion of the Protocols of Zion in their Charter and the Holocaust denial which I have heard Hassan Nasrallah use with my own ears. If you have any droughts about this I will be happy to direct you to such videos. Of course none of this justifies unjust policies of the Israeli government, but it does frighten away many who would otherwise support a just resolution to the present Arab/Persian-Israeli conflict.
Thank Again

Tim King: I know for a fact that Holocaust denial is called out too often, it should not even be recognized, it is fantasy.  I believe problems with Hamas are tied to being part of such an overly oppressed group of people.  How easy could it be?  Peace is the answer, Islam calls for peace as a concept, I like to think Jewish people really feel the same way about it.  Christians are false if they support war as a concept, so that leaves about 90% of this group without much adherence to the teachings of Christ.  Our writer Ersun Warncke just wrote a very good piece on the western understanding of Islam, please check this out: A Western Perspective on Islam

The so-called Editor’s RESPONSE DOES NOT ADDRESS A SINGLE ISSUE THAT I RAISED, demonstrating a real LACK OF INTELLIGENCE and the WEAKNESS OF YOUR ARGUMENT. Just out of curiosity is this so-call Oregon newspaper, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood? You clearly support other terrorist arms of the Muslim Brotherhood, such as Hamas. Do you also support other arms of the Muslim Brotherhood such as Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda???? Your true colors are shining through.

Editor: This is Tim King BTW, and you caught me on a tough day on this subject.  I recently had given strong consideration to being careful with language and that sort of thing, but I feel impatient after the last 36 hours of madness.  Support is really a tough term, I believe Hamas is elected and should exist, as far as Hezbollah, I have heard many things good and bad, and al Queda, who created that group again?  The CIA, that is who.  I have spent time in Jalalabad, Afghansitan, as a reporter embedded with the U.S. Army.  I do not think al Queda is anything good, but I have questions about who is what and why.  The Muslim Brotherhood?   I used to give those guys a dollar sometimes in Las Vegas in really slick suits and that is about as much as I know about those guys.  All the world wants, is for people to live with respect and dignity.  I hate Nazi's, we write stories about any sign of them in Oregon and we don't flinch or apologize.  I don't know what to tell you, these people aboard the vessel are precious in my opinion, they aim is noble.  Israel had a chance to let this help in, be gracious, and everyone, including me, would write about how excellent that was.  But instead it is only a dream, and the guns of the IDF remain the reality.  If you are on the fence, consider these points.   It isn't about religion in any way for me, I did not select the lines by which people are divided.  Believe me, if I know of Jewish people being treated with racial prejudice, I would be right there, in their defense.  Criticizing Israeli military policy is not about criticizing what religion people belong to.  Now, what are the points I am not addressing?  I will respectfully address them if we have a legit conversation, and remember that there are Jewish writers on our team and I am extremely proud to work with them.  Of course they share my view, which is purely humanitarian, thanks.

I congratulate you for posting my comment. I am surprised to see that you did and I give you credit for doing so. I in fact do not support the policies of "Uncle Neti's" government. I look forward to a day when the Palestinians will have a state of their own, and will live in justice and dignity alongside an Israeli state. You can call me a racist for this if that makes you feel better, but you did not address any of the statements in my comment. I in fact have many strong criticisms of Israel, but do not feel comfortable sharing them with a the Salem-news. In the same way that I have a lot of criticisms of the African American community, but I do not feel comfortable sharing such criticisms with bigots who blame all of the problems in America on the blacks. In other words, I refuse to share my criticism of Israel with a group of bigots such as those who edit this paper. I can assume that your refusal to reject the examples of Hamas' Nazi ideology means that you support them. What a shame. What Hypocrisy. Nevertheless the fact that you do not reject such Antisemitism shows you true colors.

Editor: Oh that anti-Semitixm crap is just insane you Nazi.   After tonight's attack of Americans on the high seas, I will never refer to anyone who uses the anti-Semite line on me, as anthing less than a Nazi.  Period.  The talk with the rabbi a couple of weeks ago flies out the window, along with my patience.  Think about it, or is it too late as of today?  I hope so, I hope some nation does something,  It won't be this pathetic country, we only conquer others over concocted 'Muslim' attacks on 9/11, which anyone with half a brain can pretty much figure had very little to do with anyone of that faith, and oil.  Oh yeah, oil, that great subject.   Let's not debate, Israel has set out to completely bring about the end of us through racism (Zionism) that wonderful philosophy that they 'get land' because God said they do.  Well I say they don't and I do understand why Muslim people go so far to make a point.  What desperation they live with, and now Israel draws blood on us.... tick, tick tick, the dirty warmongers.  Oh wait, sorry, they were "defending themselves" by murdering people who were unarmed flying the white flag, silly me!  Sorry, I forgot that Israel only defends itself, it's about "security".  Now if we just figure out how murdering Gazans and starving them out equals defense,,, but it must, right?

If the real objective of the commentators on this article were to examine injustices in the Israeli Palestinian crisis, they would take a more nuance look at the situation. For example is it accurate to compare the Warsaw Ghetto and the Nazi Regime to the policies of the Israeli government? The purpose of Warsaw Ghetto was extermination of the entire Jewish Race, as well as many other groups. If this were the goal of the Israeli government, of course they could have done this decades ago. To make such a comparison is to make light of the horrors of the Holocaust. If we are to bring the Nazis into the discussion of the Hamas ruled Gaza strip, we should take a look at the Hamas government, which openly supports the Nazi ideology of the Protocols of Zion in there Charter. For example Article 22 of the Hamas Charter states that "It was they (the Jews) who instigated the replacement of the League of Nations with the United Nations and the Security Council to enable them to rule the world through them. There is no war going on anywhere, without having their finger in it." Article 32 proclaims "Their (Jewish) plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying." It is clear that Hamas admires and believes in such Nazi ideologies. Is there any commentators here that would at least speak out against Hamas' adaptation of such Nazi proclamations? Or is this just another group of bigots disguising themselves as human rights advocates?

Editor: Seems you are the only racist here, you believe that killing the Palestinians with government approval is OK because there aren't as many?  What kind of logic is that?  Would it be OK for someone to kill families in Israel as long as they leave a few standing?  I don't think so, murder is murder whether it is one or a million, there is no justification for it, it is evil always and forever.  Israel is a bully nation that willfully maintains an apartheid government that maintains separate rules for people depending on their race and religion. The only good thing about Israel, are the people within its borders who are also calling for an end to the genocide, and for more to join the BDS movement to drive a simple message home.  Sorry, you have attacked one too many innocent unarmed civilian for the excuses to have an ounce of weight.  Israel behaves like terrorists, and their enemies that everyone "is so fearful of" are little boys with rocks.  Why does Palestine have suicide bombers?  Because they don't have F-16's, that's why.   Israel has 352 operational F-16 people killers, supplied by this often grotesque and highly immoral nation called the United States.  Heck, in all honesty Americans are almost more to blame for the suffering of the Palestinians that the Israelis are, since the U.S. supplies all of the weapons of destruction that Israel illegally uses to kill civilians, 100% documented.  Hamas is the government of Palestine, they are certainly no worse on any levels than the Israelis, but Israel knows Hamas has the guts to stand up against the genocide, Hamas doesn't forget the 60 years of Israel's murder of its people.  Hamas is as legit as any member of Uncle Neti's fascist regime.

Gaza is Israel's Warsaw Ghetto.

Really? Isreal would do that, not Isreal.

Amanda May 20, 2010 9:21 pm (Pacific time)

It is a travesty, that this country has been alligning itself with an "Apartheit" Regime, which violates basic humanities.
