(SALEM, Ore.) - (UPDATE 12:35 a.m.) The mother who took her four-month old infant last night is now in custody and her child is safe. Police say 27-year old Sarah Mullins appeared at the Marion County Juvenile Court today at about 10:30 a.m. with her infant, Ashton Bradley Giron-Taylor and was immediately taken into custody. She was charged with Custodial Interference in the Second Degree and transported to the Marion County Jail. The infant was again taken into protective custody and was placed into the custody of the Department of Human Services. Neither Mullins nor the infant appear to have been injured. ==============Original report==================== The Salem Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in locating a "medically fragile" four-month old infant who was taken by his mother at approximately 10:25 pm on May 17th. Lt Dave Okada with Salem Police says the infant, Ashton Bradley Giron-Taylor, was taken into protective custody by the Department of Human Services on April 22nd due to medical issues that his mother was reportedly not appropriately addressing and was placed with his natural father. His mother, 27-year old Sarah Mullins, had been visiting with the infant and the father on the evening of May 17th when there was a dispute that led to Mullins taking the infant and leaving in her brown 1998 Ford Windstar Van with Oregon license 959EEX and a red bumper sticker on the rear bumper that says "My Son Is A Marine". Okada says Mullins has a history of emotional issues and has threatened to harm herself and her other children in the past. Her current whereabouts are unknown, but she has relatives in southern California and may be headed south. Anybody with knowledge as the whereabouts of Mullins and/or Bradley are asked to call 911 immediately. At least she did the right thing. Sounds like all she needs are a few therapy sessions to fix her mental issues. No mom should be denied the right to see her kid, unless it is obvious that it would be in the kids best interest to not allow it.
