(SALEM) - Chemeketa is saying farewell to two temporary buildings that have served the college for more than three decades.

Buildings 17 and 18 were closed earlier this year, after mold was discovered in one, and extensive water damage was found in the other.

Both buildings, were already being used by Linn-Benton Community College when they were purchased in the early 70`s.

Three other nearby building`s, 16,19,20, are still being used but will need to be replaced within the next three years, said Jerry Vessello, Chemeketa`s chief facilities officer.

Vessello said the college`s long-term facilities plan is to have all five buildings replaced by a 40,000-square-foot building for classrooms and academic partners.

Buildings 17 and 18 should be completed removed from the Chemeketa campus by July 24th Vessello said.
