(SALEM,Ore.) - A call to Salem's dispatch center just before 1:30 PM advising of an erratic driver in the area of Highway 214 and Brownell Road SE, sent deputies in that direction in search of a 1990's White Ford F-150 Pick-up that had been driving westbound on Hwy 214.

Commander Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the complainant who made the initial call to dispatch, stayed on the phone with dispatch and provided updates as the vehicle proceeded to drive toward Salem.

Sheriff's Deputies began setting up for the vehicle which was spotted westbound on Highway 22 near the Lancaster Drive SE overpass, Myers said.

"The vehicle exited Highway 22 at Lancaster Drive SE and started to drive north on Lancaster Drive SE. Deputy Curt Henckel attempted to stop the vehicle for the erratic driving, at which time the vehicle attempted to elude."

According to Myers, the vehicle continued northbound on Lancaster Drive SE, causing a minor vehicle crash at the intersection of Lancaster Drive and Ricky Street SE, before it attempted to turn westbound onto Hager Street SE.

"As the vehicle was making this turn it lost control and crashed into the yard of a business located at 885 Lancaster Drive SE."

Myers says that after the crash, the vehicle's occupants, the driver and two passengers, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the location on foot.

"Deputy Henckel apprehended the driver and three citizens bystanders apprehended one of the passengers. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as a 16-year old juvenile male from Silverton, Oregon. The passenger of the vehicle who was apprehended was identified as 18-year old Maxwell Logan of Salem. Myers says the third passenger is still at large.

"No one was injured during this incident and the physical business structure at this location was not damaged."

During the course of this investigation deputies determined that the vehicle they were chasing was stolen from a burglary at a residence located on Huiras Lane near Silverton, Oregon. This burglary was reported to authorities earlier in the day. Stolen property from the burglary was recovered from the vehicle.

The male juvenile driver was transported to the Marion County Juvenile Department where he was lodged on charges of Unauthorized Use of Motor vehicle, Reckless Endangering, Attempt to Elude Felony, and Fail to Perform the Duties of a Motorist involved in an accident.

The male passenger, 18-year old Maxwell Logan of Salem, was transported to the Marion County Jail where he was lodged on a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor vehicle.

The burglary investigation is continuing, Myers said. Anyone with information on the missing suspect should contact the Sheriff's Office in Marion County.
