(PORTLAND) - Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of Friday night's single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 11 near Adams in Umatilla County. On May 9, 2014 at approximately 10:48 p.m., a 2001 Volkswagen Bug driven by Sharon Kay Monk, age 53, from Stanfield, Oregon, was northbound on Highway 11 near milepost 11 when it traveled off the left side of the highway, down a steep embankment and rolled before coming to rest in a field on its top. Ms. Monk was transported by air ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington. She died after arrival. OSP troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Senior Trooper Amy Ford is the lead investigator. OSP was assisted at the scene by Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, East Umatilla County Rural Fire District, East Umatilla County Health District, and ODOT. News release from Oregon State Police
