Dogs Rule, Humans Play

Salem-News.com

(LINCOLN CITY) - Dogs of all kinds will rule the day, while their humans play, at the Mutt Masters Dog Show and Olympics on Saturday, May 20th at Taft Middle School in Lincoln City.

Registration for the event begins at 11:00 AM with contests from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM. Proceeds from Mutt Masters will benefit the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and the Oregon Coast Humane Society.

Your mutt, purebred or mixed breed, can compete in sixteen contests and show categories, including musical chairs, sweetest smoocher, dandiest dancer, and best dressed. Everyone will also delight in dog-related demonstrations, a presentation by Oregon Coast Therapy Animals, and a parade just for Red Hats. Prizes and ribbons will be awarded for the top three dogs in each category, and the `Best of Show" will receive a Lincoln City weekend lodging and meal package.

But the dogs won`t have all the fun! For humans there will be booths with pet-related information, as well as the simple hilarity of watching man`s best friend in a starring role. So bring the whole family, even if you leave the mutt at home. General admission is $2 per person or $4 for a family. Taft Middle School is located at 4040 High School Drive.

Since the number of registrants per category is limited, advance registration will help to guarantee your dog a place in The Mutt Masters. The registration fee is $5 per category per dog in advance or $10 at the door.

For a description of all the show and competition categories and their rules, and to register your best friend, call the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau at 800-452-2151 or 541-996-1274, or visit www.oregoncoast.org .
