WOU Hosts Poet Karen Holmberg

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon University will host poet Karen Holmberg will read from her collection "The Perseids" on Thursday, May 18th at 4:30 PM in room 107 of Hamersly Library.

Holmberg is winner of the 1996 Discovery/"The Nation" Prize and twice winner of the Academy of American Poets Prize. Her work has been published in "The Paris Review," "Slate" and "The Nation," among other journals.

She holds a doctorate from the University of Missouri and a Master's of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of California, Irvine. Holmberg was born and raised in Connecticut on the Long Island Sound, and she teaches poetry writing in the M.F.A. program at Oregon State University.

This even is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
