(BLUE RIVER, Ore.) - Police say four members of a Springfield family were injured, two seriously, Friday afternoon in a single vehicle crash on Highway 126 about ten miles east of Blue River. Oregon State Police Recruit Trooper Cale Day says Friday at approximately 1:45 p.m. a van driven by 30-year old Marion Pielaet, was westbound on Highway 20 near milepost 50 when it drove off the right shoulder at the intersection with Taylor Road where it collided into a telephone pole. Marion Pielaet was using safety restraints and received minor injuries, Day said.

The woman's husband, 31-year old Robert Pielaet, in the right front passenger seat, and her 3-year old daughter, Angela, were seriously injured. The couple's 16-month old daughter received minor injuries. Both children were in child safety seats.

All four were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield. Angela was transported by LifeFlight and the three others by ground ambulance.

Highway 126E was closed for about 15 minutes for LifeFlight landing purposes.

Recruit Trooper Day from the Springfield Area Command office is continuing the investigation.

ODOT and local emergency responding agencies assisted at the scene.

That is some serious looking damage. And the van suggests a family. I hope there weren't children injured. That just reinforces the importance of defensive driving. Thiago
